We certainly don't have any January Blues here at Augusta Hope, we are all systems go prepping and setting up. We will be having a launch party so keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram for details. So if you haven't got the time or the inclination to start a new business to beat the January Blues we have our top tips to keep the spirits up (sadly Gin isn't one of them).
1. Flowers - we know a little cliche coming from a Florist but when all the decorations have come down and your wonderful if you can get away with leaving your fairy lights up so your house doesn't look so bare or dark flowers are a wonderful way to lift a room and remind you spring is on the way.....honest! You don't have to spend a fortune either, some tulips or anemones in clashing colours will work wonders.
2. Planning - whether its a few coffee dates with your friends or catch up with family socialising is a great way to keep up the happy vibes. Its all too easy to lock yourself away and hunker down in the evening in your pj's finishing that box of chocolates you didn't manage over Christmas - I'm speaking from experience.
3. Exercise - I know I know its hard to get going but once your there you will be thrilled you got out. It can also be a great way to get out and meet some people so its can be a 2-1 if you combine it with your socialising. I joined the Haverhill Hockey Club in the Autumn and although I didn't get too much chance to go in the lead up to Christmas, I can't wait to get back out and train.
4. Eat Healthily - If the only good vibes you get from this is self righteousness then your already onto a winner, but feeding you body with some fresh food and light meals will help with the blues. I'm not saying you need to go on a full juice cleanse but just being mindful of what you eat will be enough to help.
Now the list above may sound a little obvious but at least you know one other person will be having a go at all of the above - me! Now I can also promise I will probably not manage to be perfect all of the time, a big shock I am sure but we can try and even trying will help a little.
Have a happy January and don't forget if the healthy eating and exercise are not for you then a bunch of tulips and coffee with a friend is always an option. I have a kettle and will be happy to make a brew for anyone who needs one.
I hope to meet you all soon!
